For a joint Valentine’s Day celebration (2016), Henry and I (along with another couple friend, Isen and Lei) booked rooms at the Manila Peninsula Hotel. This was exciting for me because it means that I’d have a chance to try their breakast buffet at Escolta- one of their inhouse restaurants.

Escolta And The Manila Peninsula Hotel

The Peninsula Hotel is a 5-star property located on the corner of Makati and Ayala Avenues in Brgy Urdaneta, Makati. The waterfalls on the side of Ayala avenue is a familiar landmark in the area, but the entrance of the hotel is at ‘the back’ of Makati Avenue- on Apartment Ridge road.

The Sun Dome & The Grand Lobby

Upon entering the main entrance, the 1st thing that caught my eye was the grandiosity of the hotel lobby. The reception area is at the middle and the side is flanked by two grand marble staircases, one on the left and one on the right. The amazing thing for me was the gigantic ‘sun’ installation at the ceiling, it was so unique and surreal and uncommon at the same time.

The lobby is simply elegant.

Upon going up to our room, the elevator requires your key card in order to access your floor (same as in most newly-built hotels). The lobby is clean and quiet- and our room was well prepared for our arrival.

The bathroom has a separate half-bath and toilet area, and the bathtub (yay! they have one!) would be on the opposite side. As standard in most hotels, there’s a dental kit provided and bath neccesities (soap, body wash, shampoo etc)

During the course of our stay, we were able to try out their gym, The Spa and lounge at the poolside with Isen and Lei.

We were thrilled to receive this in our room when we got back from the gym 🙂

It is a bottle of red wine and a edible heart-shaped chocolate cover with premium chocolate truffles inside. (they were delicious!)

We also received a parting gift- it’s a New York Cheesecake! we couldn’t be more thankful 🙂

THE PENINSULA MANILA
Address: 1226 Metropolitan Ave, Makati, Metro Manila

Indeed, the Manila Peninsula Hotel is a  world class hotel with very nice amenities. The hotel staff is very courteus and attentive to one’s needs, and the hotel is well maintained and exudes beauty, elegance and class. This was truly an unforgettable celebration and Henry and I couldn’t be more thankful to Isen and Lei.
