The Lavender Cottage was our 2nd stop in Taichung. After visiting Xinshe Castle, we arrived here just in time for lunch. Our guide, Shoun, could never recommend this place enough. This place is a playfully quaint mountain retreat offering countryside trails, a hillside dining and cafe experience, and of course, Lavender fields.
The whimsical hillside attraction was established by two women who dreamed of quitting the bustling city life and start a quieter, more rewarding life as farmers. They bought a hill in the middle of nowhere, started planting lavender and various herbs, built a coffee shop plus a restaurant, and thus, the Lavender Cottage was born.
There is an entrance fee of 150 NTD for which they will give you 100 NTD worth of coin/voucher which you can use within the park.
Inside the first cottage, we saw soap various herbal and soap products being sold.
Moving down the path, we saw further merchandise of colorful bath salts and lavender-based wellness personal effects.
A DREAMDANCER’S MEMORY
There’s also a souvenir cottage called a “dreamdancer’s memory” where you will find post-cards which you can send back home to yourself or to friends and loved ones.
FIELDS OF LAVENDER
Of course, the highlight of this place- a hillside field of lavender flowers where visitors can walk up to and explore.
DREAMS CAN COME TRUE
On top of the short climb up the lavender hill, you can find a huge wishing tree where you can write a wish (or wishes) on a paper leaf and leave it hoping the universe makes it come true.
A SUMPTUOUS MEAL
p style=”text-align: justify;”>After much walking, we decided to finally eat and order at their main restaurant. We chose an alfresco spot surrounded by trees.
p style=”text-align: justify;”>Even with the 100 $ vouchers, the meal can be a bit pricey than your usual expense, and that is something that you might want to consider. Nevertheless, it was a nice experience.
After our meal, we explored the park a bit further before heading out to our next destination, which is the ZhongShe Flower Market.
p style=”text-align: justify;”>Like the Rainbow Village, Xinshe Castle and ZhongShe Flower Market, the Lavender Cottage is a highly instagram-worthy place. Check out some more photos I took inside the park.
